Post Re: Music Videos
I've been having some health problems lately and haven't had much motivation for anything. I'm feeling better, and hope to get back into the regular routine.. including looking for new music and such. Tool was here recently and I didn't feel up to it, which is a bummer since I've never seen them before.

I just watched that Korn vid you posted Micas.....apart from the swearing it's bordering on radio friendly music. It's like Korn as they are now are a cover band of the band they were over 10 years ago whilst trying to add some new elements to try and keep the band fresh. But it just doesn't work. I do however get that they're trying to appeal to the younger audience as the people that grew up with them think they're pretty terrible nowadays.

Still...would be great to hear them put out an old school album that has the feel of the first couple of albums they made in the late 90's.

New City of Fire video from a few of the guys from Fear Factory.

Not a fan of the chorus but the rest of the song has a nice groove to it. FF was one of the bands that got me into metal so I guess it's why I appreciate this more than I should.

Last one for tonight, new LoG vid:

I like the video, but the song is really meh. This and their last album are really boring to me, same old same old really.

The Lamb of God song is not very good. I really liked Wrath, and most of the stuff on previous albums. The song you linked is just a boring, generic repeated riff with vocals that don't add anything really. I haven't heard the entire album yet, but I can't imagine that song is a highlight. As far as I'm concerned, they've proven they can write interesting stuff on a regular basis, even if they are pretty rigid in their sound and style. I guess the album is released tomorrow. It's got 14 songs on it, 7 of which are under 4 minutes. That's not a good sign.

The new Korn album seems lazy to me. A lot of it is basically Untouchables with dubstep thrown on top. I like dubstep as it's own genre, but fusing it with previous Korn work is wonky. I'm listening to the entire album now, and it's got some worthwhile stuff in it, but a lot of it is throwaway. Korn had always been very good at updating their own sound, while still being identifiably Korn. This new album is basically a generic rehash version of older Korn stuff that they turned over to some dubstep artists and let them throw shit on it, and call it new. If they wanted more modern sounds on the album, they should have done it themselves instead of letting a bunch of club monkeys do the album.

The City of Fire song is bad.

There's a new Meshuggah album due out in March. Yay.

New Van Halen. It's pretty decent, but I was hoping they'd ditch the more commercial sound and get a bit heavier. It's really shitty that they fired Michael Anthony and replaced him on bass with Eddie's son. The guy was a rock for decades and deserved the pay day.

I bought Resolution. ^ This guy delivers my review.

With this album, Randy Blythe has eclipsed Phil Anselmo as far as I'm concerned... and I can't wait for the new Meshuggah. Great start to the year for metal.

Yeah.......these guys need to pack it in. Not surprised they didn't play film that song in front of a live audience, not at all.

I've tried listening to new LoG a couple of times but I just get bored with it. Haven't really liked their stuff since Sacrament. Doesn't mean that I'm not going to see them at Soundwave in a couple of months as they're a great band to watch live but they really aren't anything special, just another gateway band to the better stuff.

This I will agree with, they're doing a side show with Devin Townsend here which is a bit of an interesting combo but I'm not going to be able to make it, already have to travel to Melbourne twice during the work week for Gojira/Mastodon and then Soundwave so I'll see them both there. Already seen Devin on his last tour anyway and I'm not the biggest fan of his latest album as well.

http://www.soundwavefestival.com/about/ ... -timetable

Timetable finally up for Soundwave. Looks like I'm going to miss out on seeing SOAD as Devin and Machine Head are on at the same time. Also tossing up between seeing LoG and Manson but I'm thinking LoG at the moment, they usually put on a good show whereas its 50/50 with Manson. Rest of my day looks set though, got an hour break for lunch and a half hour break to get some beers :)

A bit heavier than their previous stuff, not too bad. Can't say the same about the video though.
