Post Promite vs. the world
Promite is awesome. Vegemite, Marmite, Our Mate, Mo-Mate and others are rancid.

Discuss.

I laid down an open challenge the other day for someone to eat an "All Mites" sandwich. I haven't been taken up on it yet.

I ate a sandwich that consisted purely of two slices of wheat bread with Vegemite spread on one side of each piece. It was fucking rancid.

Vegemite rules! Not sure if that is because I'm Australian, but Marmite is the only other one I've tried and it was shit.

Post Re: Promite vs. the world
OK Australians. Why is it that I find Promite to be palatable, but these other things to be yuk?

P.S. the actual process of the manufacture of the Vegemite complex is pretty amazing stuff. They take the brewer's yeast after it's finished brewing the beer, and dehydrate it to a point where the cells lyse and spill their yeasty goodness into a broth, which is further dehydrated and then blended into the products we call the *mites. That's mind boggling. Who decided beer scum was edible? How the fuck did that marketing disaster ever get off the ground? How is it a sustainable industry, whereby millions of people continue to consume this culinary disaster, made wholly of brewing residue?
